Exciting Gardening News: Our Peas and Beans Are Sprouting! 🌱

Exciting Winnipeg Manitoba food garden update: Our peas and beans are sprouting beautifully, promising a lush and bountiful harvest!

It’s been a real struggle for almost two years to get our programs up and running, and it definitely has not been an easy road.

But we’re thrilled to finally share some delightful news from our small, but growing garden project! Our peas and beans and peas have decided it’s time to make their grand debut. It’s amazing to see those tiny sprouts pushing their way up through the soil, eager to join the green party. Each little sprout is like a promise of fresh, crisp peas and beans to come.

It’s almost that time of year! We can hardly wait to watch them grow into their full pod-tastic glory. Stay tuned for more updates as our humble growing project continues to bloom and thrive. Here’s to a bountiful harvest and many more green thumbs-ups!

This summer, we’re able to dig deeper into the world of sustainable farming, thanks to the support of the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership and Manitoba Agriculture. We’re learning invaluable techniques for growing our crops more efficiently and sustainably, from innovative planting methods to eco-friendly pest management. This partnership is helping us enhance our agricultural practices, ensuring a healthier environment and a more fruitful harvest. We’re excited to apply these new skills and watch our garden flourish with the benefits of our newfound knowledge.

And a big shout-out to all the working farmers out there. Our project is a small, developmental youth program. We’re not growing a lot of crops or produce, we’re super basic and just starting out. We’re learning how much work actual farmers who have big fields have to do in order to succeed and gaining a new appreciation for the hard work they do. Growing our own vegetables is really cool!
