Facilitator's Guide for Hosting Immersive Arts and Entrepreneurial Workshops

Undergraduate students enrolled in the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) department of Creative Entrepreneurship, Bio-systems class of fall 2023 partnered with the artists of @1860 and Niriqatiginnga, a Winnipeg-based non-profit organizations serving communities across Manitoba and Kivalliq Nunavut.

The intention of this guide is to be used as a template for conceptualizing and hosting immersive arts workshops around food sovereignty. Student-designed workshops were designed in partnership with Niriqatignninga as a collaborative effort in exploring food sovereignty and security in urban, rural and northern regions.

This project supports SDG 2 by empowering Indigenous youth with entrepreneurship skills in the food sector and addressing food insecurity in northern communities through initiatives like "Aqpik Jalapeño," promoting local food systems and economic opportunities while ensuring access to nutritious and culturally relevant foods. Through mentorship, training, and community engagement, it contributes to the goal of achieving zero hunger by fostering sustainable livelihoods and promoting healthy eating habits in Indigenous communities.
