Amautiit to host 2024 Annual General Meeting

Amautiit will host its Annual General Meeting on March 21, 2024 online from 6:30 to 7:30 (CST). The meeting will be held online and all are welcome.

Amautiit, the Nunavut Inuit Women’s Association was established in May 2019 by a small group of Arnait (Inuit women) from across Nunavut. The organization’s aim is to improve the lives of Inuit women, girls, and families in Nunavut, addressing challenges stemming from colonization, racism, and discrimination. The organization’s membership is inclusive of all women in Nunavut unless opting out, and extends support to those residing outside the territory.

Throughout the fiscal year 2023-2024, Amautiit remained actively engaged in various advocacy and community initiatives. Notable activities include board members engaging in advocacy efforts addressing healthcare disparities, Indigenous border mobility, and victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Projects focused on gender-based violence, climate change, and leadership were initiated, with substantial progress achieved. To learn more about this year’s Amautiit accomplishments, click here.

Collaborations with organizations such as the Native Women’s Alliance of Canada and UNIPCC furthered its mission to advocate for women’s rights and equality. Research initiatives and community workshops were conducted, addressing diverse issues including 2SLGBT+ rights, dementia, and women in trades. Administrative tasks such as financial management, membership administration, and governance were diligently undertaken to ensure organizational efficiency.
